Sorry to hear we'll be on opposite sides tonight. The good news however is that one of us will win.

Appreciate the kind words you spoke on my behalf in the latest thread regarding the top handicappers and I know that you have always been kind to not only me but many others on this forum. Hopefully, the intended thread will help the forum. As for this oldman, I have nothing to prove as my longevity in this business speaks for itself. Let the young guns have their day. This is a tough business and the graveyards are filled with many that thought they had what it takes. One week, one month, or even one year does not make a successful handicapper. Best of luck to you.

oldmanted,

Anyone that can make a living gambling like you has my attention and deserves the praise. I don't disagree with what they are doing but I think they are simply going to hurt some very good cappers feeling imo like Winky,Kapusta,Jaypaw, etc. I think like a good referee or umpire in sports, when you are not noticed is when you are doing a good job. Best of luck.

Yes, there are many quality handicappers that are missing from the list. If I were to put a list together, it would look a lot different then the one that is posted. I would not include myself to be sure. There are some excellent handicappers at the RX that jcambert and the newer members aren't even aware of. I will simply observe as I know what the outcome will be already. I think it is an important exercise and will be a very valuable learning lesson for our younger members particularly during the tournament which is handicapped much differently than the regular season. Should be very interesting to watch the reaction on this forum once the tournaments get under way. Continued good luck to you.

Please understand that I know that your intentions were good in trying to have a single location where all of your favorite handicappers could list their plays so it would create a one stop shop for the viewer. This oldman's view on this matter is of little importance. This forum is for our members and if this is something that is desired, then by all means, it should be attempted and hopefully succeed. My inclusion is not important. Only time will tell whether or not the handicappers that have been invited will provide the results that everyone hopes that they will. My work on this forum has always been about providing experienced insight and thoughtfulness on matters related to this business in order to better serve our members as well as our viewers. For this oldman, it is not about just wins and losses. I have said many times before, that I have seen some of the very best handicappers fail due to lack of discipline and money management. Winning at a rate of 55% or better does not, and I repeat, does not guarantee an investor a profit for the season. Food for thought.

if i sound like a kiss-ass...so be it.
your responses on this matter alone shows class, longevity/maturity and wisdom in this business. that alone is why i follow/read your threads and heed caution if i favor the other side of your plays.
for myself, being so square that the angles almost form a circle, will continue searching your threads. thanks for allowing me to post in your thread today.

TED..thank you for an honest answer..first and foremost..I agree about winning%..all my plays in sports betting are for the same amount..people don't seem to understand me when i tell them sports betting can be a winning proposition with proper money bet in a % basis, totaly agree if u bet 1 game for $550 and lose and win 3 at 100,YOU LOSE!!, but some people seem to be successful using different unit amounts for each play.....my purpose to post before was only to let u know i think cambert did'nt intend to alienate anyone and that i hope all give it a chance to see if it's a good thing for the RX..your views ARE important!..and i truly hope you continue to express them!

Thank you for your kind words of support. Be assured that I will continue to share with the forum what my life's experience has taught me. You are always welcome to post in my threads at any time as are all members of the RX. This oldman is always here to try my best to help fellow members be successful in whatever they choose to do. As I said, it's not all about wins and losses.

ted, i like posting in your thread for the conversation.. My mentors and most of my local betting buddies are much older than myself.. It makes me feel like i did when i started out, talking to you that is.. I think your a very good capper and am going to miss seeing your posts when MLB season is in full swing.. I dont like looking at people's plays because i dont want them to influence my decision --- at least i feel that way about 90% of the time, so whatever the guys here want to do is fine by me.. I think ive read the POD thread about twice in all the time they have been running it.. This business is as much about How to bet as it is Who to bet.. Most here lack the discipline or management skills to make it long term in this.. Ive seen it over and over here, guys losing and chasing and playing 10 plays daily.. there is no way there can be that many value selections every day.. Ive got to hit the gym and wont return until tipoff of the clev/chi game, so have a good afternoon ted..

As usual, you've said all that needs to be said. We will continue our discussions as always. Like your Cleveland play tonight. Haven't check out anything else.

Ted,
I am just catching up on all of these threads.I have always respected your opinions and appreciate your advice.I have added to my bankroll and am now at the point where 1 unit = 1%.

I am not a professional gambler nor I am a big time player, but I do take it seriously and put a lot of time and care into my selections.I do not think it is luck that is providing me with a winning season-I have always done well in college bball and all other sports with the exception of college football. That said,I do not want to be involved in anything that upsets the balance in the forum. If you think that the proposed thread will be disruptive to the forum or that I do not belong on the list, I will not post on the thread.

I am also curious as to how you arrive at your selections-what factors weigh more than others.I look primarily at matchups and situational advantages-I am really not into trends as they are generally unrelated to the present. If you could find the time to look over my selection thread and offer suggestions,it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your comment. Made a suggestion in "Top Handicappers" thread that I thought might be of value to the members as well as the viewers. Kodiak, as one of the particpants, seems to concur. It's jcambert's thread to run. Just provided my thoughts on a way to make it a level playing field and help the forum as well. Good luck to you in the future whatever you decide.
